Today I tasted… Entusiástico Manzanilla Ecológica
It’s 2 and a half years old and is bottled with only a light filtration. Only 1200 bottles were released in the first saca.
For such a young wine it’s quite dark in colour: a rich golden. It’s also got quite a lot of texture in the mouth. The flavours are very youthful – far more fruit than you would expect from a Manzanilla, and not terribly punchy acetaldehyde notes. There’s a rather nice hint of honey too.
In style this feels more like a hybrid between a conventional white wine and a Manzanilla. For this reason I suspect it would be a nice introduction for those who find classic Manzanilla a bit sharp around the edges.
Eminently drinkable, especially on a warm Saturday lunchtime!
